Despite rampant unemployment, financial insecurity and dizzying personal debt levels, there’s still a place for purveyors of wedding gowns, flowers and multi-tiered cakes. Professors Otnes and Pleck, of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, amply explain why. Some of their observations aren’t surprising, as when they posit that weddings are a way to flaunt social prowess, but other insights about the link between consumer culture and wedding bells are (more…)

I am having either a spring or late summer wedding. The girls colors will be either light purple or a light yellow. I am outdoorsy and love simplicity. But the one thing I LOVE the most is Disney. My fiance agreed to have subtle touches of disney here and there but nothing tacky. I’m not a huge fan of the common Cindrella Wedding(glass slipper, carriage…). So what I was wondering is does anyone have suggestions for subtle touches of Disney(decorations, favors….)I’ve already got the music down, but I am looking for more. I want to get across that disney is a big part of us. It may sound immature, but it’s what keeps us innocent in a world that seriously lacks innocence. The castle is also where he proposed so thats another reason Disney holds a special place in our hearts.Again I don’t want to overindulge in disney, I just want a few touches here and there…remember we are country people who love simplicity and not fancy
A sentimental favorite for the top of your wedding cake.
Amazing is the first word that came to mind while looking at some of the Cinderella and Castle themed wedding cakes over at cakella.com. Also, check out the most elaborate castle cake I have seen is the Castle Fountain Wedding Cake by Manassas Cakery.

Yes, there are, but not while the park is open to guests. Being that both my husband and I used to work for Disney we were like, “Wow, this is rare!” These highly expensive Disney custom weddings usually only take place after-hours when the park is closed. I would have to say the only reason they were allowed to have their wedding while guest were still in the park was because of the Food Networks production of it.
