My girlfriend was born and raised in America and I was born in Kuwait and raised here since I was 5. I don’t have an accent and grew up pretty much in western society but my home life is very arabic in terms of culture. I have encountered a problem with my gf we have been together for about 9 months and the issue of a wedding came about. She was telling me about how she wants her perfect wedding and so on and so fourth. I then brought up the fact that I am arabic and that we do things differently in my culture. For example belly dancers come entertain and the reception and things are quite different from your disney channel wedding and she was completley opposed to it. She said as did one previous girlfriend that, “That is the one day that is all about me and I don’t want the spotlight to be taken off me for some belly dancers.” I don’t know but that seems like its kind of self fish. What is the obsession of it being the girls biggest day? The guy is getting married to and half the reception and the people at the ceremonies are there for the groom. I kind of feel that if she has that kind of attitude then things will never work because I would like to have some arabic wedding traditions in there as well. Can anyone explain this obsession about it being the girls biggest day? Am I being selfish in wanting some of my cultural aspects in there? Can anyone give me some advice on how to maybe approach the situation a little better? Thanks.

I am going to Disney to get married and I don’t want to bring my expensive wedding band to get married cause I’m affraid I’ll lose it. Is it a bad thing if I bring a cheap ring to officially get married and come home to wear the real one? Any superstitions if I get the cheap one blessed? Thanks.

We are getting married in Disney in late March 2009. We plan to have our reception in mid April in Columbus. My best guess for guests is 150-200 people (possibly more). We are both students and need to keep the price down. If we could find a place that we could serve our own alcohol, that might save a lot of $$$!! (We found a really nice place called, the Vault, but it is $20/person just for alcohol…no food included).
We want something more central Columbus if possible and water would be nice (i.e. the zoo but they have a crazy list of rules). I am expecting it to be cold bc you never know in Ohio so outdoor will probably not be appropriate. Thanks for your help!

it was about these two parents gonna get married, but the kids didn’t like it. the parents were like plant biologists or something. there were scenes with eggplant, going sailboating, and a wedding where someone falls into a pool. also at the wedding a song called mambo number 5 played. there was another scene where the daughter walks in on one of the brothers who’s looking at his chest and says he’s looking for chest hair and the girl responds oh i’ve done that before. or something like that my memory of this is a little sketchy.the “family” had a dog. they were going to a beach house well there was sand. so i hope i gave enough details and you can find this for me. please do your best this is bothering me sooo bad!!! Loves Ya and Thanks Sooo Much!

My fiance and I are getting married in October. We don’t want to register for gifts as we already have many things we need- in fact in many cases we have double! What we are hoping is to ask for contributions toward our Disney World honeymoon instead of gifts. I am wanting to hear from real couples who have done this… did it work? Did you feel that you offended anyone? How did you get around the issue of offending anyone? If you don’t mind, how much of your total honeymoon was paid for?
Thanks!
