Where To Go In Florida For Honeymoon/vacation?

14 October 2009 4 Comments

Instead of having a wedding we are taking a few close friends to a nice dinner and taking the rest of the money for a vacation. We have lived in Florida for 4 yrs and have never really gone anywhere. We live in Orlando so no disney, universal or any of that please.

If you’re looking for something nice and relaxing, more of just hanging out… I would recommend Anna Maria Island (right near Bradenton). It’s about 2.5 hours from Orlando. They have some great down-to-earth restaurants like The Beach House. I think you can rent a condo right across from the beach. I really love it there. But I’ve heard the Key’s are nice if you’re looking for more to do.

Florida Keys, take your time and drive down thru the Keys stop in the Everglades before you get there then drive all the way to Key West, stay at a hotel or cottage on one of the smaller more secluded keys
Or the panhandle, beaches there are supposed to be nice and not crowded (just don’t go over spring break!)
Or you could drive up to Savannah, GA, it’s probably 5 hours from you, it is very historic and looks beautiful!

Daytona Beach area is a great place to vacation. Lots to do and see there. Visit tripadvisor.com a free site that has reviews of things to do, hotels, restaurants and more.
We love the Best Western Aku Tiki Inn, it is right on the beautiful ocean, has a huge pool, a manager’s free happy hour each evening. Ponce Inlet lighthouse and museum, Aunt Catfish’s on the river for great southern cooking, Daytona Speedway track tour and IMAX, greyhound racing, manatee river tours, etc. Congrats and have fun.
